Fastnacht, Karneval, Carnival

Für unsere Region ist dieses Fest von großer Bedeutung. Natürlich hat auch Babenhausen sein Prinzenpaar und seinen Fastnachtsumzug. Karneval wird jedoch in ganz Europa (und darüber hinaus) gefeiert. In diesem Projekt wollen wir uns mit unseren europäischen Partnern darüber austauschen und die Ergebnisse beim Projekttreffen in Thessaloniki vorstellen. Wir bereiten ein Video vor (aus Copyright-Gründen können wir es leider nicht hier vorstellen).

Besonders stolz sind wir darauf, dass wir mit unserer brasilianischen Partnerschule in Rio de Janeiro ebenfalls einen Austausch zu diesem Thema begonnen haben. Von dort haben uns bereits zahlreiche Kurzvideos zum Karneval in Rio erreicht. Wir freuen uns besonders auf den Besuch der Brasilianer im September.

Carnival (oder Fastnacht) is very important in our region. Of course, Babenhausen also has its prince and princess and its Fastnacht parade. However, Carnival is celebrated throughout Europe (and beyond). In this project, we want to exchange ideas with our European partners and present the results at the project meeting in Thessaloniki. We are preparing a video (unfortunately, we cannot present it here for copyright reasons).

We are particularly proud that we have also started an exchange on this topic with our Brazilian partner school in Rio de Janeiro. We have already received numerous short videos about Carnival in Rio from them. We are especially looking forward to the Brazilians' visit in September.

Mein besonderer Gegenstand

Mein wichtigster Gegenstand ist eine weiße Baseballkappe, die ich 2022 aus Spanien mitgenommen habe.

Ich war mit meinem Vater, meinem Onkel und einer Freundin zum Europapokalfinale in Sevilla, um unseren Lieblingsfußballverein Eintracht Frankfurt spielen zu sehen.

Nachdem wir durch einen Zufall Karten geschenkt bekommen haben, sind wir abends ins Stadion gegangen und haben live den Sieg unserer Eintracht miterlebt. Die Fanszene von Frankfurt hatte eine Choreo geplant, von der die weißen Kappen ein Teil waren. Da unsere Karten aber nicht direkt im Fanblock waren, hatten wir keine an unserem Platz liegen.

Bei der Siegerehrung haben allerdings die Leute über uns ihre Kappen in die Luft geworfen und sie sind uns genau vor die Füße gefallen. Ich konnte sogar für meinen Bruder eine mitnehmen und jetzt haben wir beide eine Kappe von diesem besonderen Abend.

 

My special item

 My most important item is a white baseball cap that I brought from Spain in 2022.

I went to the European Cup final in Seville with my dad, my uncle and a friend to watch our favourite football club, Eintracht Frankfurt play.

After we were given tickets by great luck, we went to the stadium in the evening and witnessed the victory of our club live. The fan scene of Frankfurt had planned a choreography, of which the white caps were a part. But since our tickets were not directly in the fan block we didn't have any caps at our seats.

At the award ceremony, however, the people above us threw their caps in the air and they fell right in front of us. I was even able to take one for my brother and now we both have a cap from that special evening.

My item - a petrol lamp

 

My most valuable item is the petrol lamp that my father and grandfather used to use when they were both in the mining industry. The special thing about this lamp is that it has two functions. On the one hand, they normally served as lighting, which is self-evident to everyone in the name, but the special thing and also one of the reasons why I chose this item is that it indicated how much methane gas is in the mining tunnel based on the size of the flame. Methane gas is a highly flammable gas that is released during the mining of hard coal and can explode/ignite with a small spark. Thus, this type of oil lamp was an important safety measure for the miners and protected them from such dangers. The scale shows how many square meters of methane gas there are in the mining tunnel. For me, the lamp also has a historical connection, it symbolizes, among other things, the technical progress they had at that time, as well as the fact that a large part of my family was active in mining at that time.

Die offizielle Welterbeliste der UNESCO ist bekannt. Sie umfasst Orte, Traditionen und Dokumente, die als außergewöhnlich wertvoll für die gesamte Menschheit angesehen werden. Aber was ist mit den Dingen, die wir persönlich schätzen und für würdig halten, die Zeiten und vielleicht sogar Generationen zu überdauern? Welche Orte, Traditionen und Objekte würden wir auf eine persönliche Kulturerbeliste setzen?

Wir haben dazu eingeladen kurze Texte darüber zu verfassen, was wir auf eine persönliche Kulturerbeliste setzen würden und zu erzählen warum dieser Gegenstand für einen selbst so bedeutsam ist. Hier greifen wir eine Idee aus einem früheren Erasmusprojekt von vor sieben Jahren auf.

The official UNESCO World Heritage List is well known. It includes places, traditions and documents that are considered exceptionally valuable to all of humanity. But what about the things that we personally value and consider worthy of surviving the test of time and perhaps even generations? Which places, traditions and objects would we put on a personal cultural heritage list?

We invited people to write short texts about what they would put on a personal cultural heritage list and to explain why this item is so important to them. Here we take up an idea from an earlier Erasmus project from seven years ago.
