On the day 11.11.1918 there is an important event, namely the end of the First World War. There was an armistice at Compiegne which brought the First World War to an end. This event took place in a railroad car in the forest north of Compiegne, north of Paris. All the negotiations took place between France, Great Britain and the German delegation. This all took place at 11 o'clock on 11.11. The time and date stands for peace after 4 years of heavy world war where there were around 17 million casualties. And Kaiser Wilhelm the Second had to give up his empire after the defeat and leave the country. He then lived in the Netherlands because he was no longer wanted in Germany. After the war, however, Germany had to pay high reparation costs.
